Two Weeks, Three Friends: Hosting Alex's Family in Thailand

Howdy folks! Nothing brings me more joy than showing friends and family around Thailand. Today, I'm taking a little trip down memory lane to share one of my favorite hosting adventures.

Back in 2016, I had the absolute pleasure of exploring Thailand with my longtime Alex, his wife, and his mom. With only two weeks to tackle their first-time tourist bucket list, we dove right in – and boy, did we make every moment count! Between the sightseeing, endless laughs, and our impressive feat of eating 4-5 times a day, we created memories that still make me smile. Please don’t alert my doctor about my food-induced sugar overload.

Bangkok's Chinatown became one of our playgrounds in the capital city, with Yaowarat Road serving up endless culinary surprises. I'll never forget their faces lighting up with each new street food discovery! Alex and his family brought such infectious enthusiasm to everything – whether we were haggling with market vendors or getting delightfully lost in Bangkok's maze-like sois (alleyways). Their sense of adventure made every wrong turn feel like a new opportunity.

We then escaped to the southern paradise of Krabi Province, where limestone cliffs met crystal waters. The laid-back beach vibes were perfect for our style – lazy days filled with sun-soaking, story-sharing, and (you guessed it) more incredible Thai food! The contrast between Bangkok's energy and Krabi's serenity gave them a perfect taste of Thailand's diversity.

Those two weeks flew by in a blur of night market wanderings, peaceful temple visits, and beachfront feasts. There's something magical about introducing people to the Land of Smiles – watching them fall in love with this country just like I did.
